Albert is a 1st generation American. His parents came from the Ukraine and Belarus but that is a very short window. Just what came before that?

DNA has opened a new world of discovery for both casual and seasoned family researchers. Albert will take us through the basics of the 4 types of DNA and explain what can be learned beyond being so many percent this or that ethnicity. Through his own personal DNA results and other research examples, he will give us an insight of what your own results can provide by proving or disproving family relationships. Albert will also share what he has discovered about hid ancient ethnicity and makeup.

Albert Gershman was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and is a graduate of the City College of New York. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Albert has held many positions including 26 years as principal engineer of research and development for Keyspan Energy. He is a past president of ENTELEC, The Energy Telecommunications and Electrical Association. He is currently the owner of XIS Controls, a supplier of replacement parts for access control equipment. At age 16 (1962), Albert created a 188-person tree of known individuals. He returned to this tree some 30 years later and today, it has almost 4900 individuals. Albert has discovered numerous family stories, including discovery of many lost branches through research, collaboration and DNA. Albert Lives in Fuquay-Varina with his wife Nadine and a bunch of cats. He enjoys listening to his wife sing when she performs as a member of the North Carolina Master Chorale. Albert is past president of Beth Shalom in Cary.
