Welcome to the Triangle Jewish Genealogical Society
The mission of the Triangle Jewish Genealogical Society (TJGS) is to share genealogical information, techniques, and research tools with people interested in Jewish genealogy and family history. While the majority of its members reside in the greater Chapel Hill/Durham/Raleigh area, the TJGS welcomes members from anywhere in North Carolina, the region, or the U.S. All members are encouraged to volunteer and participate in the operation of the Society. Anyone interested in Jewish genealogy, regardless of religion or heritage, is welcome to become a member.
Our monthly meetings feature presentations from TJGS members and from noted names from the Jewish (and non-Jewish) genealogical world. In addition to our meetings, our members have access to a number of resources, including:
The TJGS is a member of the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies worldwide as well as the North Carolina Genealogical Society.
- our electronic newsletter, Mishegoss,
- our library of over 270 books and journals,
- archived meeting presentations,
- links to useful materials for Jewish genealogical research.
The TJGS includes members with a broad-range of genealogical skills and knowledge who are willing to share information with both the beginning and experienced researcher. We welcome you to join us and other members of the TJGS on this incredible journey of finding family origins and history as well as new friends.
